Multiple, wind and winter weather advisories are in effect around the region. A storm system moving across the Inland Northwest will bring very diverse weather through Tuesday night. The mountains will receive snow while the Columbia Basin and Gorge get a wintery mix including possibly some freezing rain. Other areas such as the Blue Mountain Foothills will receive mainly rain. Overnight, most areas will warm and transition to mostly rain. This may cause some concerns to poor drainage areas and roadway travel due to ponding and hydroplaning possibilities. The winds will increase through Tuesday as well impacting travel with poor visibility, and cause difficulty for higher profile vehicles.

Hydrologic Outlook
National Weather Service Pendleton OR
1251 PM PST Mon Dec 19 2016

...Rain and snowmelt may impact travel tonight and Tuesday...

A weather system will bring rain to the lower elevations tonight
and early Tuesday. Rain amounts will generally be between one-
quarter and one-half inch with some locally higher amounts.

The rain, combined with the melting of ice and snow will lead to
ponding of water along roads and in area of poor drainage. Roadside
ditches will likely run full with ice and storm drains may become
clogged with ice and slush.

People traveling through the area should be alert to ponding of
water on the roads and possible hydroplaning. If you live near
small streams or ditches, be aware of rising water.
